- JANUARY -

Board of Directors

  • Notice of Board of Directors' Meeting.
  • Committee chairpersons prepare reports for Board of Directors' meeting.
  • Cadet Summer Training applications received (Mid January).

Squadron Sponsoring Committee

  • Update League Liaison Member status of Squadron activities.
  • Cadets write their flying/gliding scholarship qualifying exams at specified examination centers.
  • Ensure that properly completed and documented applications for Air Cadet League National Courses are mailed to the Provincial Office on time (mid January).
  • Review the budget and make adjustments, if required.
  • Advise League Liaison Member of the date of the Annual Ceremonial Review once it has been finalized.
  • Work with Treasurer and Commanding Officer to organize Manitoba Air Cadet Raffle. The Squadron will receive its quota of tickets at the end of January, or earlier if possible.

  • Committee chairpersons prepare reports for Board of Directors' meeting.
  • Summer Training Selection Boards (last Saturday in February).
  • Effective Speaking Competition (day following Selection Boards).
  • CCRA Report filed.
  • Submit National award recommendations to Ottawa.

Squadron Sponsoring Committee

  • Update League Liaison Member status of Squadron activities.
  • Assist Commanding Officer in arranging transportation for cadets to attend Provincial Interview Boards.
  • Plan to attend the Provincial Effective Speaking Competition held the day following the Interview Boards.
  • Begin planning for Golden Falcon participation.

  • Selection Boards' results to RCSU and ACL Ottawa (no-later-than 10 March or as coordinated).

  • Planning for Golden Falcon participation continues.
  • Work with Commanding Officer during initial planning for Annual Ceremonial Review.
  • Assist with squadron fundraising activities as identified in the annual training program.

  • Spring Break Trip as part of optional training activities.

  • Plan to travel to the Gliding Centre with the squadron for familiarization flying.

  • Continue to work with Commanding Officer planning for the Annual Ceremonial Review.
  • Assist the Commanding Officer with Golden Falcon arrangements.
  • Assist with squadron fundraising activities as identified in the annual training program.
  • Final budget review. Did fund raising activities meet their goals? Arrange a planning meeting with the Commanding Officer for next year's program.
  • Review Raffle ticket sales and adjust allocations, if necessary. Partial submission of sold tickets and money to the Provincial Office by end of month.

  • Notice of Board of Directors' Meeting.
  • Committee chairpersons prepare reports for Board of Directors' meeting.
  • National Annual General Meeting.
  • Schedule next years events and publish on web site.
  • Annual Ceremonial Reviews.

Squadron Sponsoring Committee

  • Update League Liaison Member status of Squadron activities.
  • Attend the Annual Ceremonial Review and complete necessary paperwork with Liaison Member (CF 790).
  • Raffle ticket sales should be completed. Submission of sold tickets and money to the Provincial Office by 15 June.
  • Wrap up training activities for the year. Ensure that all bills and invoices are paid.
  • Review past years program and set plan for next year. Get ready to rest and relax during the summer months... you deserve it!

  • Committee Chairpersons prepare reports for Board of Directors' meeting.
  • Summer Training Graduations.
  • Warning Notice of Manitoba Annual General Meeting dispatched.
  • Book hotel for AGM, send out invites, plan event activities.
  • Arrange collection of award trophies.

Squadron Sponsoring Committee

  • Advise League Liaison Member of any irregularities.
  • Complete end-of-training year activities (such as the annual report) and finish paying all bills and invoices for ACR.
  • Plan to visit an Air Cadet Summer Training Center, in conjunction with a graduation parade. See the Graduation calendar on the Provincial Web Site.
  • Schedule meetings with the Commanding Officer to begin preparing the budget for the upcoming training year.
  • Recruit new members for the SSC and squadron.
- AUGUST -

  • Notice of Board of Directors' Meeting.
  • Committee chairpersons prepare reports for Board of Directors' meeting.
  • Summer Training Graduations.
  • Financial documents to Auditor.
  • Review of By-laws, Policies and Procedures.
  • Prepare Business Plan for coming fiscal year.
  • Arrange collection of award trophies.
  • Select recipients of annual awards.
  • Arrange award trophy engraving; prepare 'Keeper' trophies for cadet awards.
  • Filing of ACC9 Reports.

  • Ensure that all bills and invoices are paid off by the end of the month (the end of your fiscal year).
  • Summer Training Graduations.
  • Initiate cadet recruitment initiatives.

  • Business Plan approved by Board of Directors, then ratified at AGM.
  • By-law amendments approved by Board of Directors, then ratified at AGM.
  • Committee chairpersons prepare End-of-year Reports for AGM.
  • Start of Fall Familiarization Gliding.
  • Battle of Britain Parade.
  • Distribution of Summer Training Selection direction.
  • Distribution of Effective Speaking Competition direction.

Squadron Sponsoring Committee

  • Update League Liaison Member status of Squadron activities.
  • Arrange the year's meetings schedule for SSC. Add new members as required.
  • Arrange first meeting of the Committee with the Commanding Officer to approve budget for upcoming training year.
  • Submit the Annual Squadron Sponsoring Committee Financial Report (Form ACC9P). These are due no later than the end of October.
  • Register and Screen your new SSC members.
  • Arrange Training session for new members.
  • Return any League Trophies that the squadron holds.
  • Plan and conduct recruiting activities for CIC officers, cadets and volunteers.
  • Conduct a welcome evening and program briefing for parents and families. Discuss the planned program and expectations.
  • Register for the ACL (MB) Inc. Annual General Meeting in October.
- OCTOBER -

  • Notice of Board of Directors' Meeting.
  • Committee chairpersons prepare reports for Board of Directors' meeting.
  • Manitoba Annual General Meeting.
  • Annual award recipients announced at AGM.
  • Forward Annual Audit to Ottawa.
  • ACL (MB) Inc. Incorporation documents filed.
  • Arrange Training session for new members.

Squadron Sponsoring Committee

  • Update League Liaison Member status of Squadron activities.
  • Attend Manitoba Annual General Meeting and Awards Dinner.
  • Ensure that ACC-9 is completed and submitted on time.
  • If possible, visit the Gliding Center when your Squadron is scheduled to fly.
- NOVEMBER -

  • November 11 Remembrance Day Ceremonies.
  • Notice of Board of Directors' Meeting.
  • Committee chairpersons prepare reports for Board of Directors' meeting.
  • Book hotel for Speaking Competition and arrange judges.
  • National Semi-Annual Meeting.

Squadron Sponsoring Committee

  • Update League Liaison Member status of Squadron activities.
  • Participate in local and squadron Remembrance Day Ceremonies.
  • Cadets planning to apply for Air Cadet League National Courses, including Scholarships and Exchanges, will be starting their application process now. Be prepared to make recommendations on the cadet's application form and to participate in Interview Boards and interview practices.
  • Plan to organize a squadron Effective Speaking Competition for the cadets to be completed by no later than mid-February. Information about the Effective Speaking Competition is provided on the Air Cadet League Website (www.aircadetleague.com).
  • Begin planning for squadron December social activities.
  • Assist with squadron fundraising activities as identified in the annual training program.
  • Review the budget following fall fundraising activities and adjust if necessary.
- DECEMBER -

  • Notice of Board of Directors' Meeting.
  • Committee chairpersons prepare reports for Board of Directors' meeting.
  • Christmas reception.

Squadron Sponsoring Committee

  • Update League Liaison Member status of Squadron activities.
  • Select squadron's Effective Speaking candidates.
  • Help conduct squadron-level Interview Boards for cadets applying for National Courses; the local interview is a good training opportunity to help cadets prepare for the Provincial interviews in February.
  • Conduct any planned holiday activities.
