INVITATION AND FACT SHEET
The Air Cadet League of Canada (Manitoba) Inc. will sponsor the Manitoba Air Cadet Concert Band for the current year 2017-2018.
Experienced Air Cadet Musicians are invited to join the Manitoba Air Cadet Concert Band.
What is the Manitoba Air Cadet Concert Band? The band is made up of experienced cadet musicians from several squadrons with a similar skill level. The band will strive to have full and balanced instrumentation to enable them to perform music that challenges and further develops the abilities of the cadets. The typical squadron band is small in number and young in ability with only a few experienced musicians and is not able to perform as a full band. The experienced musician will leave if no suitable music learning is available.
Who may participate? Air Cadets who are proficient performing on a concert band instrument will be selected on the basis of a simple audition transmitted by e-mail.
Why is there a need for a higher level band? The cadets who play at a higher level expect and deserve to learn at a higher level. There are not enough higher level musicians at one squadron to conduct such training so the solution is to combine all cadets from all the squadrons who want the training. Advanced band training during the summer is limited so this band will help compensate by providing some of the material.
When does the band meet? The band will meet two Saturdays per month at 1800-2130 hours. Rehearsal dates are October 21, October 28, November 18, November 25, December 2, December 9, January 13, January 20, February 17, February 24, March 17, March 24, April 21, April 28, May 5 and May 26.
Where will the band rehearse? The band will rehearse at the Sturgeon Creek United Church, 307 Thompson Drive, Winnipeg.
When does the band perform? Last year the band performed at a seniors residence, at Lyncrest Airport to support "Women Fly 2017", pre-game for the Manitoba Moose at the MTS Centre, a Mezzanine Concert and a Dinner Concert at the Hotel Fort Garry for the Air Cadet League of Canada National Annual General Meeting. Performances for this year are not finalized.
How much will it cost to join? There is no cost to join but there is a fully refundable $40.00 music deposit to replace any missing sheet music parts.
