Air Cadet Squadron badges play an important part in creating an esprit de corps within the squadron. The authorized badges for Manitoba's squadrons are based on heraldic customs, traditions, the geographical location or the historical background of the squadron.

To provide an official basis for individual Squadron badges, the Air Cadet League of Canada has adopted a basic design for such a badge. The official Squadron badge incorporates the following elements:

1. the Canadian Coronet - featuring the maple leaf;
2. a ribbon incorporating the words "Royal Canadian Air Cadets"; and
3. space for the following individual squadron elements - Squadron Number, Squadron Symbol, and Squadron Name or Motto.

Official approval may be granted for Squadron badges by following the established procedure required to adopt the design.

Each squadron has one official crest only. However, it may introduce other badge, emblem, medallion, certificate or insignia to recognize a particular event or attainment. Such insignia are referred to as "unofficial badges" and are authorized by the Sponsoring Committee Chairman and the Commanding Officer and can be excellent morale boosters.
